WHO WE ARE

Be a Part of Something Great

A trademarked initiative of Samarpan Charitable Trust, HEED India was established as a registered non-profit organization in 2012.

"You must be the change you want to see in the world" – said Mahatma Gandhi and this is precisely the path chosen by HEED India.

Health, Sports and Education are the cornerstones of any progressive nation. And these very factors constitute the foundation of HEED India. Driven by passion of three dynamic people, who came together to be the change they wish to see in the world.

Through our multifaceted approach, we strive to create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of individuals and societies alike. Our mission is to foster sustainable change by addressing critical issues related to healthcare, education, and social empowerment. By leveraging innovative solutions, collaborative partnerships, and the power of technology, we aim to uplift marginalized communities and provide them with access to essential resources and opportunities. With a strong focus on inclusivity and empathy, we envision a future where every person can lead a healthy, educated, and fulfilling life, contributing to a stronger and more equitable society. Together, we believe in the transformative potential of collective action, and we are driven to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Sports

Sports For Every Child

  • Athletics

Athletics is an outdoor sport, and encourages children to get out and play, and stay physically active. It establishes a strong ground for the child to develop interest in other sports and even opens up newer avenues. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and race walking. Important qualities include concentration, decision-making skills, dedication, hand-eye coordination, stamina, and the ability to work well as a team. We have been training close to 100 kids and hoping to increase our athletics community in the coming times. With HEED India trustees themselves running marathons and understanding the importance of athletics, what can be a better way to introduce the same to children.

“I know what I can do, so it doesn’t bother me what other people think, or their opinion on the situation" – Usain Bolt

  • Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art characterised by punching and kicking techniques, with emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. This is not just about physical training but training the mind as well. It allows to kick and punch under controlled conditions. Besides this, the sport teaches self-confidence and self-esteem, improves flexibility, agility, reflexes, concentration, greater self-discipline, and leadership skills. At HEED India, we believe that every girl child should take up a self-defence skill so that she can kick and punch if a situation arises to protect herself. Being aware of your surroundings, blocking and staying balanced and more importantly getting out of someone’s grip is an important skill for women to know. We at HEED India are proud to have trained close to 161 kids and our numbers are only growing.

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times” – Bruce Lee

  • Boxing

Boxing is an art of attack and defence with the fists and is practiced as a sport. Also known as “the sweet science”, it utilises head movements, footwork and punches, to form a very efficient striking system and an effective method for self-defence. Benefits of boxing include an improved hand-eye coordination, strengthening the upper body, boosting endurance, refining posture and enhancing balance. If one watches the game closely it’s all about the exact calculations behind every move that a skilled boxer makes. The boxers seem more like they’re studying one another than fighting. In all you get only three minutes each in a total of 12 rounds to perform. One of the best reasons to train in boxing is that you will always be learning. The more you spar and train, the more you stand and fight. Studies have shown that children from weaker economic backgrounds have high energy levels, but unfortunately, tend to spend most of it in unproductive ways. They are either into drug addiction, physical abuse or petty crime. To give a direction and help channelise their energy in a positive manner, HEED India chose to promote Boxing. HEED India has touched the lives of 179 students so far. After all,

“To be a great champion, you must believe you are the best. If you’re not, pretend you are” – Muhammad Ali

  • Kabbadi

Kabaddi is a mentally and physically challenging sport that requires one to run, kick and dodge the opponents. It also needs one to move and think at the same time quickly. These skills help players enhance their proactiveness, presence of mind, multi-tasking abilities, team spirit and crisis management capability. Kabaddi is one of the few sports that combines elements of yoga with strenuous physical activity. The player has to enter the opponent’s court chanting the word “Kabaddi” while holding his breath, till he/she doesn’t return to the home court. This is known as ‘Cant’, which is closely related to “Pranayama” of yoga. The game calls for agility, good lung capacity, muscular co-ordination, presence of mind and quick responses. HEED India wanted to include a team sport and chose Kabaddi which requires a minimum of ten players. HEED India has been training 470 students and hoping to reach out to many more children in the coming years.

“I strongly believe that Kabaddi is the most athletic sport of all, for it requires all aspects of physical and mental conditioning to get results” – Abhishek Bachchan

Health

Healthcare for all

  • Digital Health

We are committed to harnessing digital health interventions to revolutionise healthcare delivery. Our primary goal is to enhance access, efficiency, and the overall quality of care for underserved populations. Through our diverse initiatives, we utilise innovative technologies to drive positive change. Our telemedicine services enable convenient and remote healthcare consultations, connecting patients with healthcare professionals through secure online platforms. This ensures timely access to medical expertise, regardless of geographical barriers. We also leverage digital tools for remote patient monitoring, allowing healthcare providers to remotely track vital signs, symptoms, and treatment adherence. This proactive approach enhances patient outcomes, particularly for chronic conditions, by enabling early intervention and personalised care. We strive to empower individuals and communities with knowledge, promoting preventive measures, healthy lifestyles, and informed decision-making.

  • Public Health

Through public health awareness programs, Heed India is empowering individuals to take charge of their well-being. Our organisation is deeply committed to improving public health through informative and engaging programs. Our public health awareness programs aim to educate individuals and communities about the importance of preventive measures, early detection, and timely intervention. We offer informative articles, infographics, videos, and interactive tools to enhance understanding and facilitate behaviour change. We also collaborate with healthcare professionals, experts, and community partners to organise workshops, webinars, and campaigns that address pressing health issues and promote healthy practices. By raising awareness and providing valuable resources, we empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health, leading to healthier lifestyles and improved overall well-being.

  • Patient Education

Patient education programs aimed at empowering individuals with knowledge and promoting their active involvement in their own healthcare journeys. We believe that informed patients make better decisions and experience improved health outcomes. Through our patient education programs, we provide comprehensive and reliable information on various medical conditions, treatment options, self-care practices, and preventive measures. We collaborate with healthcare professionals and experts to ensure that the content is accurate, up-to-date, and easily understandable. By equipping patients with the necessary information and tools, we aim to empower them to actively participate in their healthcare decisions, improve adherence to treatment plans, and enhance their overall well-being.

  • TOURNAMENTS

    HEED INDIA tournaments

To offer a competitive platform to the children training with HEED India, it was decided to organise HEED India tournaments. To start, we chose Boxing as we work closely with the MCGM and MCBA for the training. A Sub-Junior level Boxing Championship Tournament for Under-15 Boys and Girls was organised between 28th February and 1st March, 2020, at a BMC school in Chembur. 43 boys and 30 girls participated in this 3-day event. A first of its kind, to arouse more interest, this tournament was based on the round-robin league system. A stay in campus facility along with food arrangements was provided. All travel expenses were borne by HEED India. As they walked the red carpet, all the participants sensed a feeling of playing at a national level tournament. They were also provided with professional/certified referees and a ready medical team of doctors. All the participants were given a memento and a certificate of participation. The winners were presented with trophies and medals in various categories. The positive feedback received from the participants, coaches and parents have encouraged us at HEED India to organise our own tournaments, for the different sports we’re associated with. We hope to make these tournaments an annual event. Here's an 'at a glance' reckoner of HEED India's proud presence at various other tournaments.
